Renate Elisabeth Sass ( 1940-2004)
My mother, Renate, was a gifted opera singer whose voice and recordings will live on to bring joy for many generations. This page is dedicated in honor and loving memory.
Renate was educated at the conservatory in Dortmund, Germany. She studied under Elfriede Lukas in Germany and later with Dr. Elizabeth Lawrence in the United States. Renate was a member of Capital Speakers Club, Welcome to Washington International Club and the German Saengerbund. She recorded three albums: Arias, Kunstlieder and Holiday songs with an emphasis on lullabies by Brahms, Flies, Humperdinck, Reimann as well as Schubert, Haendel, Mozart and Cornelius. Her singing was accompanied on piano by Dr. Louise Wilson on all three albums. Renate was a coloratura soprano.
