Majestic she lay in the bay
The Pride of White Star Line
A mighty Titan on display
Of white and black design

The epitome of expertise
Of human craftsmanship
A floating home upon the seas
Her maiden voyage trip

Was hailed to be a huge event
With 50,000 tones
A hull of steel, a steep ascend
Nine decks supremely done

Superbly polished and refined
A staircase rare and grand
Where high society would find
Its every wish command

Two-thousand and two hundred souls
From peasantry to gentry
Their pleasures were the servant’s goal
The comforts elementary

They came aboard, dressed in their best
With pets from dog to cat
With suitcase, boxes, jewels and chests
And uninvited rats

Amenities were for the rich
Their staterooms five-star suites
Beneath their decks in every niche
Were men of every creed

And womenfolk and young ones too
Man-servants, cooks and maids
In every place the busy crew
A chap of every trade

So did they start a journey grand
And left Southampton port
At Cherbourg, Queenstown came to land
‘Till all had come aboard

The waters cold, the sky so clear
Good-bye said young and old
Waved to the port with smiles and cheers
While raving crowds grew bold

The days were lovely out at sea
The music never ceased
The dining, games, the gentle breeze
Were fine and all were pleased

For some the dream of liberty
Seemed floating on the air
The land of opportunity
America the fair

Lay but some days on distant shore
Though coming closer still
Through twisting mists the engine’s roar
Above the arctic chill

It was a calm and moonless night
No waves upon the sea
A seeming mirror, black and quiet
As far as one could see

Yet in the darkness lurched a foe
The Titan’s child of ice
With stark white might it hit the bow
With razor sharpness sliced

Into the starboard hull below
Where men the fires fed
Its glacial finger’s freezing flow
Found human flesh to shred

Then slowly crept, the vessel filled
The heavy steel hull sank
Licked off a meal of living kill
And human blood it drank

Atop the ship, like ants ran wild
Against the slipping board
A hoard of humans of all kinds
From servant-man to lord

The lifeboats were in short supply
The womenfolk went first
Along the wee ones who asked why
Their father’s had been cursed

As terror struck the darkness soon
And fireworks shot high
The Titans opened up their tomb
To fill with torture’s cries

And eyes in lifeboats watched it all
As foreign ships passed by
But did not hear the dreadful calls
The fires in the sky

The Titan crunched the ship in two
Then opened up its throat
And gulped the boat and all its crew
Down to its new abode

Then did it rest the nature beast
Beneath the calm black sea
Embalmed its warm and tender feast
For history to see
